Frequently Asked Questions
What languages does FoxShield support?
FoxShield supports all major programming languages including Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java, C#, Ruby, PHP, and more. The Security Agent has specialized rules for OWASP Top 10 across all supported languages.
How is the Security Score (0-100) calculated?
The score starts at 100 and deducts points based on findings from 3 agents. Critical findings deduct 15-25 points, High 8-15, Medium 3-8, Low 1-3, and Info 0. The formula: Score = 100 - Sum(penalty x severity_weight). Grades range from A+ (95-100) to F (0-39).
Does FoxShield store my source code?
No. Zero Data Retention. Code diffs are processed entirely in memory and discarded immediately after the review completes. We never store, log, or cache your source code. For maximum control, our Enterprise plan offers a self-hosted deployment where code never leaves your infrastructure.
What Git platforms are supported?
FoxShield supports 4 platforms: GitHub (native App), GitLab (API integration), Bitbucket (API integration), and Azure DevOps (Service Hook + API). Each platform has full webhook, comment, and status support.
What are Domain Profiles?
Domain Profiles automatically adjust review rules based on your business vertical. FoxShield supports 5 profiles: E-Commerce (PCI-DSS, cart security), FinTech (encryption, audit trail), SaaS (multi-tenancy, authZ), Healthcare (HIPAA, PHI protection), and Marketplace (escrow, auth). The profile is auto-detected from your codebase.
How do Quality Gates work?
Quality Gates block PR merges when the security score falls below a configurable threshold (default: 70). Unlike competitors that only post comments, FoxShield can enforce quality standards by setting a required status check on the PR. Configure via .foxshield.yml in your repository root.
Can I use FoxShield on private repositories?
Yes. The Free plan supports public repositories. The Pro plan ($9.90/dev/month) and Enterprise plan ($29/dev/month) support unlimited private repositories with all features enabled.
Is there a self-hosted option?
Yes. The Enterprise plan includes a self-hosted deployment via Docker. One-line install: curl -fsSL https://foxshield.centralfox.online/install.sh | bash. Your code never leaves your infrastructure. Includes SSO/SAML, custom rules, and 99.9% SLA.
How does Smart LLM Routing save costs?
FoxShield uses a 3-tier routing system: Tier 1 (local linter, $0) handles 40% of files. Tier 2 (Gemini Flash, $0.006/review) handles 35%. Tier 3 (Claude Sonnet, $0.042/review) handles 25% (security-sensitive files). This achieves 80% cost savings vs. using a premium model for every file.
What is the Pay-per-use option?
Pay-per-use lets you review individual PRs at $0.25/review without a subscription. Perfect for open source maintainers or teams that want to try FoxShield on specific PRs before committing to a plan. Authenticate with an API key via Authorization: Bearer your_api_key.
